Large 1884 Print: Scenes in Chicago. This hand colored, wood-engraved print is from the July 12, 1884 issue of Harper's Weekly. The print is titled "The Democratic Convention at Chicago--Some Characteristic Features of the City." In the middle, there is a large image of the convention hall. Around it are six smaller views of other landmarks: 1) On Drexell Boulevard; 2) In Lincoln Park; 3) New Board of Trade; 4) Dearborn Avenue; 5) State Street; and 6) Custom House and Post Office. This print is in excellent condition. Size is 16x22 in. $150

Many street names are shown as well as railroad routes, parks, cemeteries, Lake Calumet and the location of the World's Columbian Exposition. There is an insert in the upper right corner showing the harbor area of the city in detail.
