113ch: 1833 Map of Illinois, Missouri, Iowa, Indiana. This wonderful map is titled "North America Sheet IX, Parts of Missouri, Illinois and Indiana. It was published in 1833 by the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge (SDUK). The map centers on Illinois, showing most of the state with the exception of the southern tip. The western half of Indiana is also shown, as are most of Missouri and about two thirds of what is now Iowa. Illinois and Indiana are the most densely populated areas on this map, with numerous cities, towns and roads in the southern portions of both states. The northern parts of the two states are much more sparsely inhabited, with northern Indiana being reserved exclusively for the Putawatomie and Miami Indians. Chicago is shown on this map as a small town next to Fort Dearborn. Just west of Chicago is a "Proposed canal which will united the Gulfs of St. Lawrence and Mexico." Missouri is mostly undeveloped except for the eastern portion of the state, near St. Louis. The area that is now Iowa is labeled as the "Sioux District," with no European-American settlements except for a few forts. An "Iaway Village" is shown there, as well as a lead mine. This map is in excellent condition. It has been hand colored with original outline coloring. 13x16 in. $130

201ch: Large 1884 Print: Scenes in Chicago. This hand colored, wood-engraved print is from the July 12, 1884 issue of Harper's Weekly. The print is titled "The Democratic Convention at Chicago--Some Characteristic Features of the City." In the middle, there is a large image of the convention hall. Around it are six smaller views of other landmarks: 1) On Drexell Boulevard; 2) In Lincoln Park; 3) New Board of Trade; 4) Dearborn Avenue; 5) State Street; and 6) Custom House and Post Office. This print is in excellent condition. Size is 16x22 in. $100

210ch: Colton Map Beautifully engraved, hand-colored map of Chicago, Illinois and St. Louis, Missouri from the 1st edition of Colton’s world atlas, printed in 1855. The map contains two images: St. Louis on the left and Chicago on the right. Each city is divided into wards, with every ward colored separately. Names of all streets are given, and the locations of parks, railroad lines and major buildings are shown as well. Entire map is surrounded by a decorative border. 16x18 in. $60
