Published in a 1902 issue of Harper's Weekly, this print shows four photographs of Kingston, Jamaica and St. Pierre, Martinique prior to the catastrophic earthquake and volcanic eruption, that respectively left both cities in ruin. 11x16 in. $30

004ndis: 1902 Martinique Ruins. Print shows 2 images of the ruins left behind by the May 8, 1902 volcanic explosion which claimed the lives of thousands. The first image is an engraving showing the smoldering St. Pierre. The second image is a photo of the destroyed Gran Hotel. Caption at the bottom reads "the Ruined Metropolis of Martinique."
