The main map in center has typical pastel coloring of counties and insets are large but not colored. This is a rare and hard to find map with the very decorative spiral motif border in excellent condition, plate numbers 32 and 33 from one of Colton’s School atlases. Included are the towns of Belmont, Bronxdale, Fordham, Kingsbridge and Schulylerville. Fort Schulyer is located at the tip of Throggs Neck. This map is plate no 4, from "Atlas of New York and Vicinity" by F. W. Beers, Ellis and Soule, NY. Early roads, outlines of homes, property lines and owners’ names are shown, along with the railroad lines and other major roads. This map depicts an artificial harbor as part of a proposal route to Lake Erie to Lake Ontario by W. G. Williams. Insets: Termination section of locks and plan for artificial harbor. 48 1/4 x 31 in. $495 254NewYork: Map of the Railroads of New York State 1868, Bradford - A very rare and large lithographed map of New York state railroads, original colors, blue and tan with an amazing decorative border including eagles on US shields at corners. This is one of the most important early railroad maps of America and it extends from Lake Ontario and Lake Erie to includes the Grand Trunk Railway in Canada. Connecticut, New Hampshire and Massachusetts are included and it extends down to Long Island. Inset legend includes length of railroads in operation, prepared under the direction of V. Richmond and S. Sweet State engineers. An extremely detailed map and must have railroad map for collectors.
