Rare Railroad map of New York State, 1857. Map shows cities, counties, and has a hand drawn relief for lakes and terrains. Map also shows railroads in operation, in progress and railroads proposed. Map is hand colored and engraved. The top margin is reinforced.

Colton’s New York, 1882 - A large original color engraved and very detailed map of the state of New York, with seven insets: Oswego, Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Albany, Troy and New York City. The main map in center has typical pastel coloring of counties and insets are large but not colored. This is a rare and hard to find map with the very decorative spiral motif border in excellent condition, plate numbers 32 and 33 from one of Colton’s School atlases. Condition: Excellent small margins, one fold through center.

Plans of Westchester, West Farms, Morrisania, Westchester Co and Parts of New York County, Beers 1867 - An unusual and handsome original colored map of this area that is now part of the Bronx, (Morrisania.) Included are the towns of Belmont, Bronxdale, Fordham, Kingsbridge and Schulylerville. Fort Schulyer is located at the tip of Throggs Neck. This map is plate no 4, from "Atlas of New York and Vicinity" by F. W. Beers, Ellis and Soule, NY. Early roads, outlines of homes, property lines and owners’ names are shown, along with the railroad lines and other major roads.
Condition: Very good, nice margins, light age toning on edges.

1858 Colton's Map of New York State - Antique hand colored map by Colton, one of the premier map makers of the 1800s, excelent original color and beautiful margin, townships delineated by color. With seven black and white insets of city plans for Albany, Troy, New York City, Syracuse, Rochester, Buffalo, and Oswego. Condition is very good, paper is toned overall, slight browning and yellowing on edges and folded in the middle.

Map of the Railroads of New York State 1868, Bradford - A very rare and large lithographed map of New York state railroads, original colors, blue and tan with an amazing decorative border including eagles on US shields at corners. This is one of the most important early railroad maps of America and it extends from Lake Ontario and Lake Erie to includes the Grand Trunk Railway in Canada. Connecticut, New Hampshire and Massachusetts are included and it extends down to Long Island. Inset legend includes length of railroads in operation, prepared under the direction of V. Richmond and S. Sweet State engineers. An extremely detailed map and must have railroad map for collectors. Condition: Good some mottling inside image with two lateral folds, margins slightly torn but not into image, one vertical
fold in middle.

Coast Chart New York Bay and Harbor, 1866 - A rare and large coastal chart of New York City, its harbor, and environs. One of the first 19th century carts to depict New York City as we know it today, including Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, the Bronx and Staten Island. Also includes Jersey City, Newark and Hoboken. This is possibly the most advanced chart in this series with far more information than previous editions. In addition to inland details, this chart contains a wealth of practical information for the mariner including notes on oceanic depths, harbor navigation tips, and commentary on important channels. The map also includes tables of light houses and beacons, tides and magnetic declination as well as detailed sailing instructions.
Special Note: The triangulation for this chart was prepared by J. Ferguson and e. Blunt. The topography by H. L. Whiting, S. A. Gilbert, A. M Harrison, F. W. Door, C. Rockwell and J. M e. Chan. The hydrography was accomplished by R. Wainwright and T. A. Craven. The entire production was supervised by A. D. Bache, Superintendent of the Survey of the Coast of the United States and one of the most influential American cartographers of the 19th century.Condition: Good yellowing around multiple folds, wide margins.

1910 Hand colored half-tone image showing the famous flight by aviation pioneer Glenn Curtiss. The Hammondsport home base was sponsored by Alexanger Graham Bell. Bell hired Curtiss as part of a continuing struggle against the Wright Brothers and in support of Samuel Langley and the Smithsonian Institution. This was featured in Harper's Weekly, A Journal of Civilization. Title of image is "Curtiss' Great Flight" which shows the Hammondsport aviator passing above West Point on his extraordinary flight down the Hudson from Albany
to Governor's Island.

A Plan of the Operations of the King's Army Under the Command of General Sr. William Howe, K.B. in New York and East New Jersey, including Westchester County, this detailed map also shows the Hudson River and Tapaan Sea and Haverstraw Bay. Originally published in 1793, this is an 1886 facsimile from the History of Westchester County, engraved by Claude Sauthier. The left corner, 9-1/2 inches long by 2 inches deep has been beautifully patched. Overall, this is a fine looking map.

Map of the Northern part of New England, Gillet 1823 Original hand colored and engraved map of the Northern part of New England, continues from the northern boundary of Massachusetts to show Maine, Vermont and New Hampshire. Good detail of roads and settlements. Nice inset details headwaters of the Connecticut River with Dartmouth College, fountains of Connecticut River with various lakes and tributaries. A scarce map depicting lower New England, that shows Yale College as the Prime Meridian, a unique configuration to our knowledge. The maps were published in the only American edition of Timothy Dwight's work, but were engraved in London by W. Wright. Timothy Dwight IV was a minister, theologian, educator, and author. The eighth president of Yale College, Dwight selected the college as the Prime Meridian for these maps as noted at lower left of both. Condition: Good, small tears on top and bottom margins with small indents missing not affecting
image. Some diffuse
foxing spots near borders.
