001nz: 1864 View: Post Office in New Zealand. Woodcut engraving from the Illustrated London News, titled "The Post Office of Auckland, New Zealand: Arrival of the Home Mails. Shows a crowd of people gathered outside the post office building, reading letters from England. 8x11 in. $20



002nz: 1897 Map of New Zealand, Pacific Islands. Nice color map from the 1897 Century Atlas, titled "Islands of the Pacific Ocean. New Zealand is featured, with an inset map of the Auckland area. Also shown are numerous small island groups in the Pacific. 12x16 in. $30



003nz: 1923 Map of New Zealand. Color map of New Zealand from the 1923 Rand McNally world atlas. Also contains small inset maps of Tasmania and the Fiji Islands. Cities, towns, major roads and geographical features are all shown. A key in the left margin shows the locations of cities and towns on all the islands. 11x14 in. $20



004nz: 1971 New Zealand Water Color Scene. Beautiful print of a water color painting showing scenery and native peoples of New Zealand. Printed on the cover of a ship’s menu from the S.S. Mariposa, a Matson Line cruise ship which was travelling from Pago Pago to Honolulu. Inside the menu is a list of food offerings for dinner on Oct. 15, 1971. 9x11 in. $40



005nz: 1900 Map: New Zealand Fiji Hawaii Tasmania. Large, brightly colored map, published circa 1900 by the London Geographical Institute. Map title is "New Zealand: General Map, and Tasmania." New Zealand is featured in the main map image, and there are small inset maps of Tasmania, the Sandwich Islands (Hawaii), Fiji, the Friendly Islands and Samoa. Distances from the islands to major ports are shown with dotted lines. Provinces within each island are outlined in different colors. Cities, towns, railroad lines and geographical features are all shown. There are three small ink marks at the bottom of the main image, off the coast of New Zealand’s South Island, but they are not visually distracting. Otherwise, condition is excellent. 16x20 in. $40



006nz: 1872: Railroad Scenes in New Zealand. Three engraved images from the Oct. 26, 1872 issue of the Illustrated London News showing railroad tracks and bridges in New Zealand. Image titles are as follows: 1) The Otago Great Northern Railway, New Zealand: Waitaki Railway Bridge; 2) Waimakarua Viaduct; and 3) Port Moeraki. Some of the print from the opposite side of the page is visible on the front, but the images are not stained or torn. 11x16 in. $20



007nz: 1886: New Zealand Volcanic Eruptions. Four engraved views from the July 31, 1886 issue of Harper’s Weekly, titled "Scenes of the Volcanic Eruptions in New Zealand." Images are titled as follows: 1) A Mud Crater; 2) A Steam Hole; 3) The White Terrace; and 4) The Pink Terrace. 11x16 in. $30



009nz: 1854 New Zealand Scenes: Natives and British. Six engraved images and a short article from Gleason’s Pictorial Drawing Room Companion, showing the customs of Maori people in New Zealand. Also shown are British military officers observing a Maori war dance. 11x16 in. $30



010nz: 1798 View of a New Zealand War Canoe. Hand colored copper engraving, printed on hand laid paper. Published in 1798 as an illustration to Alexander Hogg’s edition of Captain Cook’s voyage to the Pacific. Title of the scene is "Representation of a War Canoe of New Zealand, with a View of Gable End Foreland." Numerous men are shown rowing the canoe, with several other warriors riding as passengers. 9x15 in.

011nz: 1795 Capt. Cook View of New Zealand. Hand colored copper engraving, printed on hand laid paper, from Alexander Hogg’s 1795 edition of Captain Cook’s expedition to the Pacific Ocean. Title is "A Family in Dusk Bay, New Zealand." Shows a typical village scene among the natives of New Zealand, prior to its settlement by Europeans. 9x15 in.

200nz: Antique Captain Cook View in New Zealand. Beautiful engraved image, printed on hand laid paper, titled "The Inside of a Hippah, in New Zealand." Published in 1798 as an illustration to Alexander Hogg’s edition of Captain Cook’s voyage to the Pacific. Native New Zealanders are shown conversing in the foreground, with the buildings of their village behind them. 9x15 in.
