011watr: 1876 Kayak Paddling Scene: First Lesson. Hand colored, wood-engraved print from Harper's Weekly, titled "The First Lesson in Canoeing." It shows a man and a small child, each sitting in a kayak off the coast of Greenland. Beneath the image, there is part of a short article which describes the uses of kayaks among the Greenlanders. 11x16 in. $50

013watr: 1919 Women: Water Ski Aquaplane Scenes. Four photographic views and a one-paragraph article from the July 1919 issue of Country Life magazine. Each scene features women "aquaplaning": standing on a wooden board which is pulled rapidly behind a motorboat. The article explains that aquaplaning originated in Hawaii, and was quickly gaining popularity along the Atlantic seaboard. 10x14 in. $40



014watr: 1888 Canoeing in the North Woods- A "Carry." This hand colored engraving is from the September 22, 1888 of Harper's Weekly. The print shows two men loading their canoe on a sled like device called a "carry" in the Adirondack mountains. size: 11x16 in. $50

200watr: 1900 Gibson Swimming Print: Girls at Beach. This hand colored, engraved print was drawn by Charles Dana Gibson, creator of the famous "Gibson Girl," and published in 1900. The print is titled "Her First Appearance in this Costume. She Thinks, on the Whole, She Feels More at Home in a Ball Dress." It shows several self-conscious young women at the beach, wearing turn-of-the-century swimming attire. This print is in excellent condition. Size is 11x16 in. $40
