007watr: 1884 Canoe Paddling Print. Hand colored, wood-engraved print from Harper's Weekly, titled "Cruising Canoes--The Last Match." Shows three men seated in canoes on a river in the wilderness. One of the men is attempting to light his pipe with the last available match. 11x16 in. $50



008watr: 1880 Young Women Swimming. Engraved scene from Harper's Weekly, titled "Swimming A La Mode." Shows several young women relaxing and swimming in a country stream. 11x16 in. $50

010watr: 1898 Gibson Scene: Women at the Beach. Hand colored engraving by Charles Dana Gibson, creator of the famous "Gibson Girl." Title is "Her First Appearance in This Costume. She Thinks, on the Whole, She Feels More at Home in a Ball Dress." Shows a self-conscious young woman at the beach, wearing her swimsuit for the first time. 11x16 in. $40



011watr: 1876 Kayak Paddling Scene: First Lesson. Hand colored, antique wood-engraved print from Harper's Weekly, titled "The First Lesson in Canoeing." It shows a man and a small child, each sitting in a kayak off the coast of Greenland. Beneath the image, there is part of a short article which describes the uses of kayaks among the Greenlanders. 11x16 in. $50



012watr: 1891 Water Polo Scene. Hand colored antique engraving from Harper's Weekly, titled "Water Polo at the Manhattan Athletic Club." Shows two teams playing water polo in an indoor pool, while a crowd watches from the sides. 11x16 in. $60

013watr: 1919 Women: Water Ski Aquaplane Scenes. Four photographic views and a one-paragraph article from the July 1919 issue of Country Life magazine. Each scene features women "aquaplaning": standing on a wooden board which is pulled rapidly behind a motorboat. The article explains that aquaplaning originated in Hawaii, and was quickly gaining popularity along the Atlantic seaboard. 10x14 in. $40



014watr: 1888 Canoeing in the North Woods- A "Carry." This hand colored old engraving is from the September 22, 1888 of Harper's Weekly. The print shows two men loading their canoe on a sled like device called a "carry" in the Adirondack mountains. size: 11x16 in. $50

204watr: 1883 The Canoeing Season, - Sailing and Paddling Canoes, - Their Appurtenances And Uses, From Sketches by S.M. Spedon. Hand colored wood engraving depicting eight scenes detailing the canoe and its riders. Published in Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper on July 7, 1883. 11x16in. $80



205watr:
1897 Hand colored double-page half-tone which was featured in The Graphic titled, "A Water Polo Match At A London Swimming Club," drawn by W. Small. This was originally folded but the fold mark is not too noticeable.
