Isaiah West Taber achieved world recognition as perhaps the most famous photographer in San Francisco and the West. Over 200 remarkable photographs pay tribute to a master of California photography who showed the Golden State to the world. Taber produced over 30,000 scenic views of California and the West, including the California coast, Yosemite Valley the Central Valley, Hawaii, and California towns and cities.
Among Taber's clientele were seven U.S. presidents from Grant to McKinley, Queen Victoria, King Edward VII, King Kalakaua of Hawaii, governors, senators, and millionaires, explorer Henry Morton Stanley, and entertainers Sarah Bernhardt, Enrico Caruso, and Lily Langtry.
