Atlas holding up the Celestial Sphere – An 1873 steel engraving of Atlas, this piece is the 2nd century Roman sculpture the “Farnese” Atlas in the Archaeological Museum in Naples. Considered the oldest depiction of the sky as the ancients seen it.

Vulcan God of Fire – A rare hand colored copper engraved depiction of Roman God Vulcan hard at work at the top of Mount Etna by F. Verdier. Printed in 1698, text at the bottom is in French and translates to: “Vulcan, which represents the element of fire, is here in the forge of Mount Etna, occupied with the cyclops to make the lighting of Jupiter and other weapons of the Gods.” LeFeu meaning fire.
