003paris: 1871 Sketches of Paris Under the Commune. Antique wood engraving shows several scenes of Paris in ruins at the hands of communists. Published in an 1871 issue of Harper's Weekly. 11x16 in. $30



004paris: 1885 Victor Hugo Dying. Rare wood engraving shows the last hours of Victor Hugo, French poet, novelist and leading literary figure, best known for penning "Les Miserable" and the "Hunchback of Notre Dame." Published in an 1881 issue of Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper. 11x16 in. $40



200paris: RARE Old Map of France by H.S. Tanner. Beautiful, engraved map of France, with original hand coloring, published in Henry Tanner's Universal Atlas of 1841. Each province in the country is separately colored and numbered, with a list of the provinces on the far left side. Inset maps of Paris and Corsica are in the top left and right corners. Cities, towns, canals, major roads and geographical features are all shown on this map. It is in very good condition. There is a very small worm hole near the top, which is barely noticeable. 13x18 in. $120


201paris: RARE Old View: Horse Riding in Paris, France. Hand colored engraving from the June 21, 1890 issue of Harper's Weekly, titled "Going to the Grand Prix: A Bit of Paris in June." Beautiful street scene in Paris, with the Arc de Triomph in the background. Would look wonderful in a frame! 16x22 in. $90

210paris: 1834 Steel engraved map of the Eastern Division of Paris, Containing Quartiers, published under the Superintendence of the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge (S.D.U.K.) in London. Map is lightly hand colored and in fine condition. There's a comparison of heights of prominent buildings on bottom border.

Paris – Folding pocket map 1896. A 36-page promotional booklet for the Bon Marche department store in Paris, France. Used for reference in the creation of the Ashville, North Carolina, Done Marche department store, created and owned by the Lipinsky family. The elegant booklet contains a description of the Bon Marche administrative practice including personnel guidelines; a ribbon-map that can be used to estimate distance and to locate “instantly any street” and environ; and a comprehensive list of Paris, its streets, squares, etc.
**Minor tears/rips on folds. Back booklet cover is loose.
