1864 St. Valentine's Day. Large, wood engraving was published in an 1864 issue of Harper's Weekly. The print depicts several scenes of union soldiers writing valentines to women who eagerly await them. Also shows Jefferson Davis receiving a valentine from the devil and confederate soldiers receiving a valentine attached to a bomb.
