1853 Cupid at Work. Wood engraving published in an 1853 issue of The Illustrated London News shows several cupid's busily creating valentines. 8x11 in. $30

1864 St. Valentine's Day. Large, wood engraving was published in an 1864 issue of Harper's Weekly. The print depicts several scenes of union soldiers writing valentines to women who eagerly await them. Also shows Jefferson Davis receiving a valentine from the devil and confederate soldiers
 receiving a valentine
attached to a bomb.
